• Aisha Buhari Inaugurates NYSC Ultra-Modern Mobile Clinic, Free Healthcare For Indihent Nigerians

Nigeria First Lady, Dr (Mrs) Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated the NYSC Ultra-Modern Mobile Clinic that she donated to the Scheme during the official flag-off of First Quarter 2022 NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers held today at Kpaduma II Guzape, Abuja.

She said she had observed with great admiration, the critical roles the NYSC played in the efforts to contain the COVID-19 Pandemic, especially in the heat of the scourge in 2020.

Aisha Buhari added that the interventions of Corps Medical Personnel who joined other frontline health workers, as well as thousands of other Corps Members that produced and distributed items such as face masks, hand sanitizer, liquid soap, food and other palliatives further underscored the relevance of the Scheme and heightened the nation's hope in its youths.

"Today's event is a significant step forward in the health initiative of the NYSC, which has the same goals as my Future Assured programme.

Indeed, our numerous interventions greatly complement the efforts of the Federal Government in the delivery of quality health services to Nigerians, especially the indigent members of our rural communities.

I wish to emphasize the need for programmes of the NYSC that are targeted at improving the lives of Nigerians, including its rural health programme, the HIRD, to be strengthened through the goodwill and support of all well meaning citizens. This informed my decision to donate the mobile clinic to the Scheme. I would like to assure that our moral and material support for the NYSC will be sustained for the benefit of the citizenry", She said.

Aisha Buhari, who was represented at the event by the wife of a former Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr (Mrs) Tanko Al-makura reiterated her commitment to any cause that will help in the reduction, if not total eradication, of maternal and newborn mortality, as well as avoidable morbidity arising from preventable causes such as obstructed labour, blood loss, high blood pressure, amongst others.,

  • Youth And Sports Minister Commissions NYSC Museum, Commends DG For The Vision

The Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare has commended the visionary leadership of the NYSC for not only remaining strong in the face of daunting challenges, but turning the challenges into opportunities which have continued to raise the Scheme to higher pedestal.

He stated this today while inaugurating the NYSC Museum of Dynamic History at the Scheme's Headquarters in Abuja.

He noted that the complexities of today's world and the quest for foreign culture has made it necessary to seek ways to preserve history.

He lauded the decision of NYSC Management to establish the Museum which would preserve innovations, inventions, arts and artefacts of the Corps Members and the Scheme in general.

"I am pleased to be associated with the pragmatic leadership of the Director-General of the NYSC for this and many other ground-breaking achievements, and I am highly honoured to commission this project which will serve as a centre for research and documentation and in the long run, a source of income to the Scheme", the Minister said.

He called on the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, the National Commission for Museums and Monuments and the Federal Capital Territory Administration to facilitate the process of including the NYSC Museum in the list of Museums and Monuments in the Country, in addition to making it among tourist sites in the FCT.

Sunday Dare expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his support for the betterment of the Nigerian Youth and the NYSC in particular, adding that government
policies and programmes have impacted positively on the lives of the youths.

He appealed to the Management of the NYSC to sustain the initiative behind the establishment of the Museum.

In his address, NYSC Director-General, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim said the need for a museum as repository of historical and archival materials for an organisation with a rich history of close to five decades cannot be over-emphasized.

He added that his background as a historian enabled him realise the need for the documentation of the Scheme's activities.

  • THE ONLY LANGUAGE WE SPEAK IN THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS IS PUTTING THE NATION FIRST

Join the Kopaville family by "signing up now" at www.kopaville.com

The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps in Lagos, Mr Eddy Megwa has told corps members of the 2021 batch 'C' Stream II Orientation Course in Iyana-Ipaja, that the National Youth Service Corps is committed to the unity of the country and must see the nation in that wise, availing themselves to see and speak about the nation as the only thing that comes fastest in their minds.

Mr Megwa made this statement during his address in the Swearing-In Ceremony organized for the corps members this morning.

He said, the corps members, like their predecessors who have contributed their quota to the nation, bringing the strides of the NYSC to its present state, must contribute their own quota to the nation. Mr Megwa said 'now you have been sworn in, you have taken your lifetime Oath to defend the Federal Republic of Nigeria and what the NYSC stands for is National unity. We de-emphasize State, religion and tribe.'

Mr Megwa while charging the corps members to take up leadership challenges in the camp said, the NYSC does not believe youths are leaders of tomorrow, but individuals who must take charge of the country at this point. He said the purpose is to ensure the corps members begin 'to value themselves, rediscover themselves, know the highest leadership potentials which you have within you and begin to bring it to bear.'

Meanwhile, at the close of registration, 2116 corps members were registered and sworn-in for Service in Lagos, with 1410 of the figure, females, while 706 of them are males. Also, 633 Lagos corps members are currently in Osun State orientation camp, and 382 in Ogun State camp, undergoing their 3 weeks orientation course, after which they will return to Lagos to continue their national service.

  • How NYSC brought us together 馃拲馃拲馃拲 Read 馃憞馃憞 the love story of Mr & Mrs Onyekwere 鉂わ笍馃槝

When our call-up letter came out in June 2016, we were already in a Facebook Corpers group where everyone posted to Akwa Ibom were asked to drop their numbers to be added to a WhatsApp group and we officially started talking in that group.

However, an ugly incident happened one day on the group where I passed a rude & careless comment at her during a discussion about small businesses we can do in camp and she left the group in anger. Feeling sorry for my misdeed, I sent her a DM and apologized to her. She accepted my apology and we agreed to meet in camp.

We got to camp around 10pm, I called her to come out so I can see her, she came out and we spoke that night.

I completed my Camp Registration before her and hurriedly went to assist her to do hers. Gave her my shoe because it was small and took her over sized shoe to manage.

While on camp, I was platoon 10 Parade commander. I did all I could to impress her so she could like me but she wasn't moved. So I started praying they should post us to the same LGA. Little did I know she was praying to be taken to a different local government so we will not see again.

Posting letter came and I got Uyo while she got Eket. I quickly opened Google to check the map and found out that Uyo to Eket is just 50mins drive. I gave myself hope that I can always visit her and build the relationship very well.

We properly started dating in July 2016. We passed out of NYSC and remained in touch.

January 1st 2020, I asked her if she could spend the rest of her life with me and she said YES.

August 2020 we tied the Knot traditionally and on February 13th 2021, we had our white wedding.

Indeed God is faithful. Long live NYSC
